Project Description
What is Physiotherapy?
As a physiotherapist, I use a variety of techniques to help your body move and function to its full potential. In order to prevent a range of problems and diseases, and to improve quality of life, my goal as a physio is to encourage and assist people of all ages to participate in a safe physical activity.
Physiotherapists work in partnership with you, to empower and teach you how to manage your own health. My role is to help you resolve any movement disorders or deficiencies, which have been acquired through accident or injury, are the result of aging or life-changing events, or which may have been present from birth.
Physiotherapists are trained to assess your condition, diagnose the problem, and help you understand the condition and how to manage your health. The following are common treatment methods used by physiotherapists:
Exercise programs to improve mobility and strengthen muscles.
Joint manipulation and mobilisation to reduce pain and stiffness and increase range of movement.
Muscle re-education to improve control, stability & functional strength
Hot and cold packs and electro-therapy to relieve pain, reduce swelling and speed up the healing process.
Clearance techniques and breathing exercises.
